Confident cast brings classic comedy to stage
Chaos and confusion reigns in the café run by hapless Rene Artois in Nazi-occupied France as he tries to juggle the demands of his wife, two lovers, the Resistance, the local commandants and the Gestapo.
This stage version of popular TV series ‘Allo ‘Allo! at Batley Town Hall had many of the familiar catchphrases alongside plenty of slapstick and innuendo for the uninitiated.
Jonathan Cannon’s superb performance as Rene was a masterclass in comic timing, delivery and slapstick.

Anita Boylan (Helga), Robert Cannon (Capt Bertorelli) and Cevin Barker (Lieut Gruber) each gave wonderful performances that deservedly earned much laughter.
This first outing for Acorn was confident and much slicker than I had expected – a hugely entertaining show and great sign of things to come.
