A HOLIDAY in the Algarve is the star prize in a charity prize draw to be drawn at A Glam Rock night at The Frontier on May 29, in aid of Dewsbury Diabetes Unit.
T-Rex, along with David Bowee and his band, will be performing at the charity concert to raise money for the unit, which, will bring all services for diabetes patients together for the first time.

The holiday is being offered by Smartavillas, and the winner will be drawn on the night of the concert.

From the Bolan and Bowie era, Paul Fenton will be topping the bill with his band T-Rex at the event, which is to be compered by businessman Mike Smith.

The two have been friends since they met at Carlton Road Infant School in Batley Carr, when they were just four years old. Paul and Mike have taken different paths since schooldays, but have remained firm friends.

Paul has always been a professional drummer, while Mike set up his carpet business and regularly works for and raises money for local charities.

Supporting T-Rex will be David Bowee and his Band, with lead vocalist Les Holdstock who will perform songs from the Bowie repertoire.

Les, whose appearance, vocals and on-stage performance are similar to Bowie during his early 70s Ziggy Stardust phase, is renowned for his ability to replicate the star's stage performances from this era.

Dewsbury and District Hospital has already raised more than £100,000 towards the unit, and with another £60,000 to go, they are well on their way to reaching their target.

The unit will be self-contained for diabetes patients, from a dedicated waiting area and patient records to treatment rooms, nurses, dieticians and podiatrists.

Currently all the services for diabetes patients are in different parts of the hospital and they will be brought together for the first time.

The unit has held a number of events during the past two years, from car boot sales to 'East Meets West' events, concerts and auctions.

Tickets for the concert are £12 and are available from the box office on 01924 442122, or from the hospital.
