PEOPLE from Batley and further afield took the opportunity to meet others and gain information on local services at an afternoon tea event.
The sunny weather saw a successful Tuesday Tea at Batley Resource Centre in Commercial Street, with more than 40 people turning out for tea, cake and crumpets.

The monthly event gives people the chance to speak to staff from the council and other agencies about services for older people in the area.

Hilary Thompson, who heads the centre, said: "It went extremely well. We had a lot of our volunteers on hand and people came from as far afield as Denby Dale.

"It's also an open day for people to see the building and how all the services work together."

A tombola and raffle were held to raise money for the centre and cake was baked by volunteers.

The Tuesday Tea is held on the first Tuesday of every month and a coffee morning is also held from 9.30am to 11.30am on the last Thursday.
