A BATLEY Carr minister came face to face with the bear essentials at his church's autumn fair at the weekend.
The Rev Paul Crabb did his bit by selling ‘name the teddy bear’ tickets to boost fundraising at Trinity Church on Saturday.

The popular event was in aid of the church tower restoration fund and it is hoped around £900 was raised on the day.

The money raised edges the church closer to the £60,000 or so needed for the restoration project.

Mr Crabb said: “It was great effort, with lots of people coming along throughout the day. Certainly to have raised so much is brilliant. All the preparation and hard work was worthwhile as everyone had a good time.”

The church has secured around £20,000 in grants but is hoping to land a major chunk from the lottery early next year. The church community has to raise around £6,000 towards the cost of the work.
