BIRSTALL'S councillors are taking advantage of the internet to tell locals what they are up to.
Conservative councillors Andrew Palfreeman, Robert Light and Liz Smaje have launched their own internet blog to keep in touch with their constituents.

The blog, at http://bbmatters.blogspot.com/, allows visitors to contact the councillors, gives details of their surgeries, regular updates on issues in the ward and news of what the three are doing for the area.

Coun Palfreeman said: "We are keen to find new ways of staying in contact with everyone we represent. As much as we might try, it is impossible to talk to everyone on a regular basis and this is another way of showing what we are doing in the Ward and of seeking our constituents' views.

"This is an opportunity for everyone, either at home, in an internet cafe or the local library to keep in contact with us and us with them."
