AEROPLANE enthusiasts can see a working replica model of a First World War fighter aircraft in Batley.
Northern Aeroplane Workshops have successfully created an authentic replica of the Sopwith Camel at the Yorkshire Motor Museum.

On Saturday there was an open day at the museum in Alexandra Mills, Bradford Road, Batley, so the public could view the model which is completed but yet to be covered.

It has taken the group more than 13 years to build.

All the constructors are amateur volunteers who have used original drawings and materials worth thousands of pounds, supplied by the Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire.

The biplane is airworthy and will eventually be flown but will be on display at the Batley museum for a while beforehand.
