Energy scheme targets fuel poverty
Training sessions offering advice to combat fuel poverty are coming to Batley.
Kirklees Council is running courses to help families tackle the current economic climate and increasing fuel bills.
Groundwork will hold six energy champion sessions within communities across Kirklees between now and April.
The scheme will visit the Batley Resource Centre on January 28 from 1pm.
The environmental charity is offering members practical advice to help vulnerable members of the community, particularly those in fuel poverty.
Participants will learn how to recognise fuel poverty and the health implications.
They will also learn about different heating systems, ventilation and renewable systems.
Information about fuel switching, financial inclusion and debt advice, grants and national and local schemes will be provided. Training will last around three hours and is free. It is available to anyone across Kirklees.
Anyone interested can contact Mathew Roberts, Senior Climate Change Co-ordinator at Groundwork Leeds, on 0113 238 0601.
