Reunion for school’s first pupils

St John Fisher reunion

St John Fisher reunion

FORMER pupils who went to St John Fisher School in the late 1950s are invited to a reunion.

People who attended the Dewsbury school from 1958 to 1962 can meet up with old school friends at Batley Irish Democratic League Club (The Nash) in Churchfield Street, Batley, at 7.30pm on Friday August 10. St John Fisher School was built in 1958 so the 1958-1962 year group had the distinction of being the first intake to complete all secondary education at the school. The event is being organised by ex pupils, John Maloney and Steve Walker, with the help of other stalwarts. Steve said: “We have had several reunions over the years to mark big occasions. This is another big occasion as it is the 50th anniversary of us all leaving the school in 1962 and we are now all 65 years old.” Readers who are in contact with pupils from the year group are asked to pass the message on.
