Members of the Society for the Blind of Dewsbury, Batley and District helped prepare their garden for some special guests.

Radio 4’s Gardener’s Question Time will be visiting the society on Soothill Lane to record an edition of their programme.

Members of the society and volunteers, armed with spades and gardening gloves, gathered last weekend to give their garden an overhaul.

They were each allocated an area to tidy and new flowers were planted ready for spring.

Kate Holdsworth, activities and communication manager, said: “Our grounds day was a real success and we had great weather.

“We had the most beautiful sunny day and a loyal band of 13 volunteers arrived, and tackled the garden with gusto.

“It looks so tidy and ready for Spring now.”

The society will be hosting Gardener’s Question Time on Monday, February 25.

A panel of experts will be tackling the questions put to them by local gardening enthusiasts.

The show attracts more than two million listeners a week and is recorded in a different location each week.

Doors open at 5.30pm and the programme starts an hour later with tickets costing £2.50.

Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to submit a question to the panel.

The show will be broadcast at a future date.

Anyone interested in attending should call 01924 445222.
