Store’s cash joy
Pets at Home store,Birstall raises 500 for abandoned animals. Jason Mallon
THE Pets at Home team in Birstall is celebrating a major input to a national fundraising drive.
The local store raised £480 during October, helping to swell the chain’s national total to £237,000.
All the money will be donated to local animal charities working hard to find new homes for pets within the community.
Store manager Neil Farr said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve managed to raise more than £237,000 nationwide, all of which will go towards helping abandoned animals and encouraging and raising awareness of pet adoption.
“I’d like to thank my colleagues for getting behind the initiative with so much enthusiasm and, of course, our customers who helped our store raise £480.”
The store held a number of activities for customers to take part in, including a raffle. Charity wristbands were also available for £1 and some suppliers donated 5per cent from every product sold during October.
The fundraising drive was an appeal run by Support Adoption For Pets, the charity Pets at Home established and supports.
The charity has raised more than £1.65m in the past year thanks to the efforts of store staff and customers.
