Editor’s comment: Inspiration eight-year-old
LITTLE Jennie Burrows is truly an inspiration.
Despite being born with a serious heart defect, which means she’ll have to have a heart transplant as a young adult, she takes life in her stride.
The eight-year-old deals with her many hospital visits with a bravery which is well beyond her years.
It’s a real reminder that heart problems can affect anyone, no matter what their age or lifestyle is. We wish her dad Chris all the best for his charity bike ride and hope he and his family get all the support and sponsorship they deserve.

A News staffer did a double take after spotting the Christmas tree in Batley’s Wetherspoons.
Sadly it wasn’t the first festive item we spotted this year. We’d already clocked Christmas cards on sale in Commercial Street in August.
We know the festive season seems to begin earlier and earlier each year. But when cards are on the shelves while children are still on their summer holidays – well, something’s really not right there, is it?
Or perhaps we’re all being Scrooges and we should all grab an eggnog and start celebrating.
