I REFEREED a memorial match on July 5 in memory of Linden Yates who tragically died last year.
What a turn out! The two teams were Belle Vue verses Linden Yates All Stars.

It was a fantastic occasion for everyone who turned out for Linden, not only people who loved and cared for him. He was a unique person, who loved his family, friends and football.

I was so honoured to be reffing the match, which ended up 5 - 2 to Linden's All Stars. Everyone who turned out must be so very proud of themselves, and many old stars who turned out from yesteryear did themselves justice.

I'd like to thank both teams for being so considerate and turning out for a hero – and in my eyes a legend.

Everyone supported the event and Linden's family.
He will be sorely missed.
