A poignant moment

WHAT a marvellous afternoon Sunday was at the open day held by the Support Group at Batley Cemetery.
Archives and photographs were wonderful and Malcolm Haigh's walk was enlightening and so very interesting.

There were a few poignant moments on the walk and one was while we were standing around the grave of Sir Alfred Broughton, a former Member of Parliament for Batley.

Malcolm was telling us that Sir Alfred had been in the Royal Air Force and a few seconds after he told us we saw the Lancaster aeroplane flying over.

The Twin Chapels are beautiful buildings and it is good to see them put to such good use.

I congratulate the Support Group for all their hard work and for organising such a wonderful day. I look forward to the September one.
