MIKE Wood is dead right the headlines don't tell us the whole story (Inside Politics, Mike Wood, the News, April 17).
So go and look at his expenses. There are around £45,000 of expenses that perhaps should be looked at.
There's £17,976 in additional costs, £11,129 as an incidental Expenses provision.
Why cannot our MP travel by train each day. Many business peo
ple do travel from the North to the South each day, and he could work on his laptop on the journey. Well he received £1,164 for centrally provided computer costs, that's a few computers a year! Sorry, he's not very environmentally friendly he knocked up £4,869 in mileage allowances, and only £293 in train fares.
Why should tax payers buy him a second home?
Why does not Parliament not have its own dormitory area, so they don't see a penny?
Mr Wood should not have raised this topic, but good on him for having the nerve. Yet have we paid for his barbecue or 89p plug.
There's £3,410 in postage costs. Use email, get modern!
Mr Wood should be banging on his boss's door and saying, "Give us a job, I can do that!" Because there's a few in his lot of "nasty" Labour that should be giving their marching orders for "fiddling" the system.
They certainly should be a lot less of them and perhaps more staff for the remaining number. We've seen no reduction to reflect that Wales and Scotland increasing want to go their own way, and why do they need London representation they have Europe. Then let's slash the number of MPs to around 225 with centrally hired and paid-for staff, with no family members.
They want to reduce unemployment benefit and incapacity benefit, let's reduce the amount spent on the ultimate receivers of benefit ... Parliament.
Or should we just give the whole incompetent, corrupt lot their marching orders?
