HAVING read Malcolm Haigh's letter (News, May 1), I agree with him wholeheartedly.
He and many others have worked hard to keep the Twin Chapels and Batley Cemetery in good condition and working properly for the people of Batley.
I'm sure there are many people who have had relatives work in the mills in Batley and when they died
were very grateful that Batley had a cemetery in the centre.
Look at its peaceful garden to walk around to look at the graves and find people you knew. Listen to the birds chirruping and see the flowers around you. If you haven't a park near you, use it and look around.
My relatives are in Birstall churchyard and I go there and feel the peace which is very scarce in today's noisy world.
The Twin Chapels we need to save as I should say they are fairly unique.
Let's try and get the classes going again. people who went enjoyed them but are just left wondering if they are going to continue.
If we can charge to cover costs and make it known to everyone by advertising. Let it be known when, why and how it is happening.
Come on Batley people, let everybody know you are interested enough in your own town to want to do something about it.
