OUR government in its wisdom
Wondering what on earth to do
To lift the standard in our schools
Gave birth to the Ofsted review.
Each time they were to visit
Some teachers' knees were quivering
"Shall we be found quite lacking
In the standard we're delivering?"
With bated breath they waited
To learn the body's finding
Knowing too well their decision
Would be publicised and binding.
A school so low in credits
Where some staff may be replaced
And lots of money spent on
presenting a new face.
The media had a field day
Watching each and every move
What joy, what pride in placing
That school above the groove.
And OFSTED came to visit East Bierley and claimed
Our most prestigious school held a credit rarely named.
Planners and council heard this
and without further ado
Proposed the school be scrapped ...
