A FAST-PACED pantomime packed with laughs awaits audiences when Dewsbury Collegians present its latest show.

The theatre group brings family favourite Jack and the Beanstalk to Dewsbury Town Hall later this month.

And new producer Chris Etty says the show promises plenty of fun for all ages.

“I wanted to get it back to the traditional British pantomime and concentrate more on the comedy side of it,” he said.

“I think people come to laugh and be entertained so we’ve got a modern script with lots of one-liners. It’s full of fun and laughter, lively music and dance routines.

“There’s something for everybody. It’s well worth coming to see.”

Chris has been a member of the Collegians since 1978, but this is the first time he’s produced the group’s popular annual pantomime.

He said: “Having played almost every role in pantomime, I though it was about time I tried producing!

“Pantomime has its detractors but when it’s done right, it’s an art form in itself and it’s as rewarding as any form of drama. You don’t get anything else where you get that reaction from the audience.”

The show is at the town hall from Tuesday January 15 to Saturday January 19 at 7.15pm, with a matinee performance on Saturday January 19 at 2pm. Tickets are on sale priced £8.50 for the balcony and £8 (concessions £6) for the stalls, or just £5 for any stalls seat on opening night.

Ring 01924 492742, 01924 468653, or the town hall box office on 01924 324501 (credit/debit card sales).
