Chapter House Theatre Company's Pride and Prejudice is at Oakwell Hall Country Park this summer.

THE classic tale of Pride and Prejudice will be brought to life in the great outdoors next week.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company, renowned for taking traditional stage performances outside, will present Jane Austen’s famous love story in the gardens of Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall next Thursday.

In the fresh summer air, the company will take a step back in time and tell the tale of Elizabeth Bennet as her mother tries determinedly to pair her off with the detestable Mr Collins. All this, of course, just as Elizabeth meets the rude and abrupt Mr Darcy.

Chapterhouse has been touring the country’s castles, heritage sites and country houses with its shows for 13 years.

Pride and Prejudice is on June 14 at the park in Nutter Lane.

The show starts at 7.30pm, though the grounds will be open for picnics from 6pm. Audience members are advised to bring their own rugs or low-backed seating.

Tickets are £13 (adults) with concession and group prices available. Book at Oakwell Hall on 01924 326240 or at www.seetickets.com.

l Chapterhouse will bring the magic of princess fairytale Sleeping Beaty to Oakwell Hall in August.
