PUPILS at Batley Girls' High School are celebrating their best ever SATS results.
Seventy-nine per cent of year nine pupils achieved level five and above in English in the government-set exams, and 77 per cent reached level five and above in maths.

With 49 per cent of pupils reaching level six and above in maths, the department has exceeded its targets by nearly 15 per cent.

The science department also exceeded its targets by ten per cent.

Headteacher Jackie Eames said: "I have no doubt that with results like these we will maintain our place on the 100 most improved list of all schools nationally.

"I had great faith in my staff and students so set tough targets, asking them to match the top 25 per cent of schools.

"My faith in them has been amply rewarded."
