ANTI-social behaviour has been slashed in Batley and Birstall after a summer-long crackdown.
Incidents in the area were down by 36 per cent over the six weeks compared to last year.
The police campaign, which also included Dewsbury and Mirfield, saw 39 youths identified and arrested for anti-social behaviour and almost 200 stop searches made in known anti-social behaviour hotspots.
Eight warrants were served under the Misuse of Drugs Act, two warrants under the Gambling Act and a warrant under the Theft Act. Officers on patrols also seized four motorbikes which had been involved in nuisance behaviour.
And one person was arrested for possessing a knife. Operation co-ordinator, Insp Nicola Gibson said the campaign had been a big success.
She said: “We handed out a number of questionnaires to ask people if the operation had provided a positive impact on the quality of life for residents in Dewsbury, Mirfield, Batley and Birstall. Early indications suggested people were very happy with the results.”
