there was no need for fireworks this New Year for one Batley couple as their son made a dramatic entrance.

Baby Archie Jonathan Lindley was born at 12.46am on New Year’s Day, the first baby born at Dewsbury and District Hospital in 2013, weighing 7lbs 4oz.

Archie was due on Christmas Eve but mum Natalie Carter, 18, didn’t go into labour until December 30.

Slow progress meant that she was taken to theatre for a Caesarian section at 11.30pm on New Year’s Eve.

Natalie was put under general anaesthetic for the procedure and slept through the countdown to midnight and the new year.

“When I woke up and came out of theatre Archie was there with Kyle,” she said.

Proud dad Kyle Lindley, 22, was thrilled to have a new year baby. “It’s great, it’s unbelievable,” he said.
