A charity which helps people with disabilities to live independently has been given £1,000 towards its work.

Vodafone store employees in Dewsbury chose the Shaw Trust as a winner of the telecomms network’s Community Connection Award.

The cash will go towards helping people with disabilities to find work and live independently.

Shaw Trust operations manager Jo Hannar applied to Vodafone for consideration under the scheme.

“At Shaw Trust we support people with disabilities and health conditions in finding sustainable employment,” she said.

“For some, this could mean improving their social inclusion, guidance to prepare for the world of work or helping them with the intricacies of finding and keeping a job.

“We take pride in the service and support we offer to people and this wonderful award will enable us to do something extra for the clients on Work Choice. Thank you very much!”

Store manager Jermaine Hendrickson “The support and guidance Shaw Trust offer vulnerable people in the area really deserves recognition, as well as the work they do to both train and help find disabled and disadvantaged people work.

“The award couldn’t have gone to a more admirable cause.”

The mobile phone giant set up the Community Connection Awards in 2014.
