Nine top pubs from the Heavy Woollen Campaigh for Real Ale (CAMRA) district have joined the Taprooms in the 2014 Good Beer Guide.
As well as the Commercial Street pub, the Horse and Jockey in Low Lane, Birstall was praised as a well-loved historic pub, known for its log fires and stained glass windows.
Also honoured in the guide was the Leggers Inn in Dewsbury, the Black Bull in Liversedge, the Navigation Tavern in Mirfield, the West Riding pub at Dewsbury Rail Station, the Old Colonial in Mirfield, the New Inn in Liversedge, the Shears in Liversedge and the Flowerpot pub in Mirfield.
The Good Beer Guide is published annually by CAMRA and features 4,500 of the best real ale pubs in the UK, as well as information on real ale breweries and their beers.
The guide is completely revised and updated each year by more than 149,000 CAMRA members across the country.
Last week the News incorrectly referred to the Fox and Hounds pub being mentioned in the guide instead of the Horse and Jockey. We are happy to correct this and apologise for any confusion.
