Family paddle along new trail
Pennine Canoe and Rowing Club members recently completed the inaugural family paddle on the Mirfield to Dewsbury section of the new Calder and Hebble Canoe Trail.
The Mayor of Mirfield Sean Guy provided the official send-off and two hours later the group arrived safely at the Leggars Pub at the Savile Town Wharf in Dewsbury.
David Jefferies, chairman of the club, said: “It was a very enjoyable morning’s paddle. The club is intending to do more of these taster sessions over the summer.”
Mr Jefferies is also paddling the full 21-mile journey from Sowerby Bridge to Wakefield in July.
