Farm challenge this weekend raising funds for good causes

A Dewsbury gym is once again hosting a unique physical challenge in aid of two local charities.

T3 Wellbeing is staging its annual Farm Challenge for the fourth time this Saturday (August 19).

The event consists of a 5k or 10k obstacle course with participants taking on hay bales, clambering in and out of trenches and plunge into ice cold waters.

This year’s challenge is being staged at a new venue at Still House Farm at Howden Clough and funds raised will be split between Kirkwood Hospice and the Yorkshire Down Syndrome Group.

Gym owner Danny Thomas said: “We have both a children course and an adult course and we welcome people of all abilities.

“It’s essentially a family fun day with lots of singing, food, activities and music on the day.

“We’ve also got over 20 stalls on the day.

“It’s a bit of fun and everybody who takes part in it has a laugh, which is what makes the event.

“We have a lot of local people that continue to support us and the charities and as I say it’s a lot of fun.”

Danny says the event has raised over £23,000 for good causes in the three previous years combined.

Ticket’s for the children’s course are £10 per child and available on the day with the adult course priced at £25.

An after party will take place following the challenge, with entertainment from local artists and bands.
