A 40-year-old man has appeared before the courts this morning charged with an attempted robbery at a car dealership in the town.

Johnathan Furness, 40, of Crabtree Avenue, Heckmondwike appeared before Leeds Magistrates' Court this morning charged with attempted robbery.

Furness' charge relates to an incident at a car dealership on Bradford Road in Batley during the afternoon on Wednesday.

Active enquiries remain ongoing into the attempted robbery by Kirklees CID.
