Pupils at a Healey school will have extra-special poppies for Remembrance Sunday this year thanks to their creative receptionist.
Amanda Walmsley, who works at Healey Junior and Infant School, has been knitting poppies for almost a year to raise money for the British Legion.
She was inspired to create the fuzzy fundraisers so pupils could wear the flowers in November without having to fiddle with a sharp pin.
She saw a pattern posted on the British Legion website.
The poppies have a black button in the centre and a safety pin on the back, and are sold for £1 each.
“I’ve knitted 200 and sold 80 already, raising £80” Amanda said. “I’ve sold so many I’ve had to start knitting again!”
