Ron Earnshaw, a stalwart of Batley Bulldogs, has died.
The club said it was deeply saddened after learning the former chairman passed away on Saturday evening.
Mr Earnshaw dedicated most of his life to the Batley Club.
He was first seen at The Mount as a programme seller before going on to become director, secretary, chief executive and chairman of the Bulldogs.
Much of Mr Earnshaw’s time was spent watching the games from the old Nine Oyle section, which was officially renamed The Ron Earnshaw Terrace.
A statement on the club’s website said: “It is with great regret that the club announces the sad passing of Ron Earnshaw.
“The thoughts of everyone connected with the club are with Ron’s wife, Nellie, and the rest of the Earnshaw family at this time.
“We hope to announce details of how Bulldogs fans can pay their respects to one of the great Gallant Youths in due course.”
