A BATLEY man has been found not guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Amjid Ali was acquitted by a jury at Leeds Crown Court today after a three-week trial.

Ali, 42, of Aysgarth Road, was accused of arranging to have his ex-wife Neelam Amjid shot after she moved to Pakistan to be with her new partner.

Ms Amjid was shot five times in Lahore in March 2011 by her cousin Mir Hamza Haled, who is still at large, the court heard.

Ms Amjid survived as each of the bullets passed through her body.

Giving evidence last week, Ali denied any knowledge of a plot to have her shot.
