Coca Cola invests in Innocent brand
NEW DEAL Innocent co-founder Richard Reed
A former Batley Grammar school pupil is quids in thanks to investment from Coca-Cola.
Innocent, co-founded by Richard Reed, has agreed a deal with the global drinks company, and Coca-Cola will buy the majority of the Innocent founders’ remaining shares, subject to governmental approval.
The company, which specialises in healthy smoothies and snack pots, will continue to be run by its home-grown management team and support the Innocent Foundation.
The foundation works with non-government organisations in the countries that supply Innocent’s fruit to support sustainable farming.
The company’s three founders will retain a minority equity holding and will sit on an executive committee.
Mr Reed said: “Innocent has flourished since our deal with Coca-Cola four years ago.
“They have been hugely supportive of our mission of getting natural, healthy foods to more people and have been 100% committed to protecting our brand and the values it stands for.”
