Locals may be forgiven for thinking Christmas has come early in Birstall.
The festive illuminations, which were switched on 52 days ago, are still shining brightly in the village.
But Birstall Village Improvement Group secretary Hilary Wainwright said the village wants to make the most of the lights.
She said: “We have tried to do it over the last couple of years.
“We are the last ones to switch-on our Christmas lights and we never do it any earlier because it clashes with other events.
“People like to go around and see what other villages have been doing so it is a chance for people outside the area to come and visit Birstall.”
Mrs Wainwright said no date had been confirmed for the lights to be taken down.
