Youngsters surprised shoppers with a flashmob to raise awareness of polio.
Rotakids from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Batley performed at Asda in Morley on World Polio Day, held last Thursday.
The surprised audience took pictures and videos on mobile phones as the kids danced to Katy Perry’s Firework.
The group, part of Batley Rotary Club, wore special t-shirts to support Rotary’s international campaign, Polio Plus, which hopes to eradicate the disease through vaccination.
Children in other countries that have received the vaccine have purple dye put on their little fingers – and in tribute, the Rotakids wore purple nail varnish on theirs.
Batley Rotary Club secretary Patricia Taylor said: “It was a really lovely dance routine, they all enjoyed it. No one knew it was going to happen apart from the store’s charity co-ordinator.”
