THE glitz and glamour of the movie world awaits youngsters at Hyrstmount Junior School after their short film was selected for two prestigious film festivals.
Year three pupils’ stop-animation film Habitats has been selected for both the Kids for Kids UK 2012 film competition and the Co-operative Film Festival.
The animation process – which saw the budding filmmakers set up and take 25 images to create each second of footage – featured cardboard characters based on animals.
Pupils will head down to the British Film Institute in London’s South Bank on Saturday to see if they have won an award in the six to 12 years animation category.
They will then heading to Manchester on November 1 for their screening at the Co-operative Film Festival.
Teacher Victoria Daker said the youngsters were really excited about their success.
She said: “The project allowed the children to excel and shine.
“It will be fantastic to see it on the big screen.”
