In this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out Christmas Eve:
It’s a double celebration for sister act Becky Denvers and Rachael Ellis this week.
ALSO: Plans to change Batley’s public toilets into a shop were flushed away by councillors at last week’s meeting of the Heavy Woollen planning sub-committee. Members asked Kirklees Council to withdraw the plans and then refused the application for change of use when it failed to do so.
AND FINALLY: A kind-hearted family will open their café to homeless and needy people in our community again this Christmas. On Christmas Day Sharon McNulty and her daughters will be serving free breakfasts and lunches at Grilled and Filtered to people who might otherwise
go hungry. The family also opened the cafe last year in memory of father of two Craig McNulty, 38, who died in August 2012.
Don’t miss all this, plus: new Birstall shop approved; East Meets West festive show picture special; plans revealed for new fire station and meet the latest arrivals at Batley Girls’ High School’s farm.
Plus we’ve got the first part of our Review of the Year, remembering the biggest headlines from January-June this year.
Only in this week’s News, out Tuesday.
