‘It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity...’
A DETERMINED fundraiser will take part in a gruelling trek along the Great Wall of China for charity.
Shaun Steadman has signed up for Trek China, a five-day walk along the ancient wonder to raise money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.
Father-of-two Shaun will join 30 others to walk thousands of steps along the wall, which snakes up and down across the mountains around Beijing.
Before his mission in October, Shaun has begun fundraising to collect the £3,500 he needs to enter the challenge.
The 32-year-old will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the World Coal Carrying Championships at Gawthorpe this year, while partner Emma has been hosting charity bingo nights.
Shaun, a reach truck driver at PPG Architechtural Coatings, Birstall, is also being supported by The Taproom in Commercial Street, which will have a charity bucket available for donations.
The funds will help support medical research and the work of Yorkshire Cancer Centre.
