youngsters got creative on a mission to make biscuits healthier.
Pupils at Staincliffe Junior School were set a challenge by Fox’s Biscuits to design a biscuit that complimented a healthy lifestyle.
As well as deciding on the recipe for the sweet treats, children in year three also came up with advertising ideas, packaging and names for their new products.
Pupils experimented with sunflower seeds, raisins and currants in a bid to boost the nutritional value of their biscuits. Fox’s staff then returned to pick the winning design – a ginger and orange recipe – and present some certificates and Fox’s goodies to the children.
Head of year three Yvonne Burkinshaw said the school enjoyed the Fox’s challenge last year too.
She said: “The children loved it. In school we did work on how to make the biscuits with healthy ingredients instead of chocolate. They did a tasting session and picked their favourite, then made packaging and came up with names.”
