Letter: Can you help identify this bird?

This young bird appeared close to my house in Birkdale Road a few days ago.

Not being an ornithologist I’m afraid I can’t give a positive ID, but it’s about the size of a young grouse.

The thing is, the bird seems almost tame and relatively unafraid of humans which leads me to think that it could have been raised by someone locally, and escaped.

Even though there are a few weird birds in town, I don’t think it’s a native Dewsbury bird!
