Licence ban for furniture MD

A BUSINESSMAN and his Soothill firm have been banned from operating a fleet of lorries for 18 months.

Anjum Cheema, director of Quality Home Furniture Ltd, had already had his vehicle operator’s licence revoked on January 6.

As reported in the News, the furniture company, on Soothill Lane, was the subject of a public inquiry earlier this month that revealed several safety and maintenance checks were not being carried out.

Deputy traffic commissioner Elizabeth Perrett deemed the firm unfit to hold a licence after receiving reports from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), who carried out inspections in March and September last year.
