Little boy’s Disney dream
Harrison and Louise Stenchion (D532A230)
LITTLE Harrison Moore wants nothing more than to go and see Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld in Florida.
First, though, he will have to get through years of gruelling treatment for leukaemia.
His mum, Louise Stenchion, vowed: “If I have to save up forever he will go.”
The Child’s Play nursery Harrison attends in Dewsbury is organising a fundraiser on August 11 to raise money to make Harrison’s dream come true.
At 2pm, there will be a charity football match at the Crawshaw Street playing fields, Ravensthorpe, followed by a barbecue, bouncy castle, tombola and more at the Bull’s Head pub.
Louise, an admin officer at Healey Junior and Infant School, Healey Lane, found out four-year-old Harrison has leukaemia almost two years ago.
“I walked around in a daze for six months,” she said. “I was gutted. Devastated. I couldn’t believe it.”
Harrison has chemotherapy and steroid treatment and fortunately doctors think he can have a normal life, although there is a five per cent chance the leukaemia will return.
Louise said: “We believe he will be okay. But the fear is at the back of your mind all the time.”
