A bereaved couple’s campaign to raise money for the hospitals that cared for their premature daughter is going strong.

As the one year anniversary of little Lydia’s death approaches, Ryan Wilkinson and Jodie Gibbons have raised around £2,000 and built a community of support through their charity, Lydia’s Star.

As reported in the News, Lydia died on April 3 after being born six weeks early at Dewsbury and District Hospital.

She was cared for at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Pinderfields Hospital during her short life.

The Lydia’s Star Facebook page now has more than 2,000 likes and Jodie and Ryan are contacted by families from as far away as New Zealand and Africa who have had similar experiences.

“It’s helping us to carry on,” Jodie said. “Sometimes you have really difficult days but with the support we’re getting it makes you think positive, knowing we’re helping others.”

Jodie is currently planning a psychic night to raise more cash and the couple,of Healey, are planning a family fun day to be held at Batley Business and Enterprise College on August 2.

A balloon launch is also being planned to mark a year since Lydia’s passing.
