Man fined £100 for dropping litter in Dewsbury
A MAN from Hull has been fined £100 for dropping litter in Dewsbury.
Mike Erno, of Spring Bank, was no more than two metres from a litter bin when he was seen dropping a wrapper in Foundry Street on August 31.
He did not pay a £75 fixed penalty notice so he was prosecuted by Kirklees Council using environmental legislation.
Kirklees magistrates found him guilty in his absence last Thursday and fined him £100 with £15 victim surcharge and £175 costs.

Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:44 AMI wholeheartedly agree. However, I wish the same enforcement action was taken against the many people I see spitting all over the town centre. Although, litter is unsightly, spit is sure-fire way to pass on infections such as TB. Further, this disgusting habit seems to be extremely prevalent in a particular section of the community. I'll leave readers to take a stab at which one!
