Man had half a million indecent images of children - Batley

A MAN is behind bars after police found he had nearly half a million indecent images of children – some just babies – on his computer.

Leeds Crown Court heard it took forensic officers three years to go through the images, which were found on John Herbert Fletcher’s home computer in March, 2009.

Applying grades to the images, which determines how serious the images are on a scale of one to five, was suspended due to the large quantity.

Of those that were counted, 186 photographs were deemed to be the most serious, at level five, as well as one movie.

The children in the pictures were aged under one up to nine years old.

Fletcher, of Welwyn Avenue in Carlinghow, obtained the images and videos from file sharing websites.

The 64-year-old was sentenced to 14 months in prison on Friday.
