Man in court for death crash

A MAN from Scotland is to stand trial for causing the death of a Batley driver.

Mark David Roderick Hoare, of Bromley Street in Hanging Heaton, died when his car collided with two others on the A75, just outside the village of Springholm in Dumfries and Galloway.

The crash happened at around 4pm on January 24 last year.

Brian Shingleston, from Stranraer in Scotland, has denied causing the death of 22-year-old Mr Hoare by driving without due care and attention.

The charge alleges that while taking a left-hand bend his car crossed the centre line of the road and collided with Mr Hoare’s vehicle, a silver Suzuki Swift.

Shingleston, 58, of Craiglea Avenue, faces trial at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court on February 20.
