Drugs 'sold outside school, court hears
A DRUG addict bought heroin and crack cocaine outside a school in Cleckheaton, a court heard.
Batley and Dewsbury magistrates heard that David Wood, of West Street, Batley, was seen by undercover police officers approaching a car in Turnsteads Avenue, outside Whitcliffe Mount School, on Wednesday May 5.
Prosecuting, Alex Johnson said officers saw Mr Wood approach a car and get in, before an exchange took place.
Mr Johnson said: "He got out of the vehicle and Mr Wood was then seen to discard items over the wall.
"The items were recovered - two small wraps of heroin and three of crack cocaine."
The court heard how Wood, who was not represented in court, had battled with a drug habit for 20 years.
He said: "I want to apologise for it being near a school. I rang the dealer and he asked me to meet him there so I apologise for that. I didn't realise it was near a school."
Wood pleased guilty to possession of crack cocaine and heroin and will appear before magistrates on August 16 for sentencing.
