Editor’s comment – keep our streets clean
WE’VE all been there!
A leisurely stroll in the park, or a walk down the avenue, and suddenly there is the disgusting realisation that you have trodden in a pile of dog poo.
And what began as a nice relaxing way to spend a day ends up in anger and frustration at the mindlessness of dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets.
Being a dog owner carries with it great responsibilities. As well as lavishing it with love and attention, a dog need plenty of exercise – and that means walks, and lots of them.
But the responsibility extends way beyond the pet itself – and to the local community.
Most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their pets. But there is a significant minority who simply let their dog foul the pavement or playing areas.
The problem of dog fouling has certainly touched a nerve with News readers who have responded in droves to the issue on our Facebook page. One even branded the area as Dog Poo City!
It’s really not hard to clean up after your pet, nor is it difficult to carry it home with you.
We echo our readers’ views to be more considerate, and keep our streets clean.
