FIREFIGHTERS swapped burning buildings for grubby cars at a charity car wash.

Batley Fire Station hosted the fundraiser for the Fire Fighters’ Charity on Saturday.

Firefighters got their hands dirty to raise an impressive £265 in donations and even gave free fire safety checks to motorists who brought their cars along.

Firefighter Nigel Crabtree said: “It went really well. You do something like this and you want the community to support you and they did.”
