Insensitivity takes biscuit

RACHEL Moffat, senior brands director for Fox's, was quoted in last week's Batley & Birstall News story ('Crunch Deal for Workers', January 28) as saying: "It's hardly surprising that January is such a depressing month for workers in the UK."

How right she is.

As an employee of Fox's Biscuits factory, less than a week before her quest for glory with the brand new biscuit bursary, I was informed that I may well lose my job before the year is out.

I personally find it insulting that a person I have never even heard of can talk of 'bringing some relief from the doom and gloom by rewarding the most deserving workplaces with biscuit treats'.

Perhaps she should walk around the Batley site and ask the factory floor staff what they think of this new initiative.

To say the timing of this new PR stunt is a touch insensitive would be a massive understatement.

I would ask the senior management team to delve deeper into matters such as these and think of the effect it's having on the morale of your workforce.
