GRIDLOCK: Tailbacks on the M62 at Brighouse following the accident between Chain Bar and Gildersome.

A busy stretch of the M62 motorway has been closed in West Yorkshire after a collision involving two vans and a motorbike.

The road had been closed eastbound between junction 26 at Chain Bar and junction 27 at Gildersome, with delays back to junction 23 at Outlane.

Traffic was at a standstill on the A62 from Liversedge to Birstall and there was queuing traffic from Chain Bar to Littletown but one lane on eastbound is now open.

There is heavy traffic on the A653 on Leeds Road in Dewsbury and on Huddersfield Road in Mirfield.

It is hoped the other lanes will be reopened soon.

The incident happened at around 5.42am this morning.

West Yorkshire Police said one person was injured in the crash but is not considered life-threatening.
