Margaret fills in the missing names

MARGARET Horrobin (nee Greenough) from Birstall contacted me following last week's photo of the Youth Revelry group from Birstall Temperance.

She thought the picture was taken in 1944 or 1945, not 1939 as was suggested.

"I did attend Mount Tabor Methodist Chapel and performed as a junior member of the pantomime there," said Margaret.

"Being a member of the Temperance Hall Youth Group allowed you membership of the concert party and it was my first introduction to musical concerts and I loved it.

"A nicer group of people you couldn't wish to meet, especially Leonard Hill and Irene Kershaw. Hilda Waters later became Mrs Leonard Hill.

"They were lovely people who worked so hard with the teenagers of our time and we all had very happy times."

Margaret also filled in the missing names on the picture:

Back row: Derek Ball, Brian Oates, Ronnie Sykes, Geoffrey Grey, James (Jimmy) Martin, Eric Lockwood, Fred Wood, Basil Akeroyd, Dennis Oates.

Third row: Hilda Waters (pianist), Irene Kershaw (producer) and Ivy (wardrobe).

Second row: Mr Leonard Hill, Margaret Bennett, Shirley Oates, Kathleen Sheard, Una Rowbotham, Phyllis Ball, Mr Oates.

Front row: Dorothy Sheard, Dorothy Akeroyd, Margaret Greenhough.
