Music Video Award

A BATLEY animator has won a national award for his first attempt at writing and producing a music video.

Arif Majothi, a freelance animator trading as Dark Raven Digital, won a Music Video and Short Award (MVSA) at the Black International Film Festival in Birmingham. His debut music video won the Most Creative UK Music Video category.

Arif's computer-generated animation accompanies a song called Serve Below Zero by Huddersfield soul singer Angela Lewis Brown. It follows a man as he travels through a city at night and finds himself in various stressful situations.

Arif, 30, said he thought up the storyline after talking to Angela about the song, and had developed the characters with illustrator Laurence Mann.

He said: "The video has got a message behind it, which is to keep your cool and not lose your temper. I'm not really a believer in mindless images. I like to get people thinking."
